Seminar for Environmental Science
Center for Environmental Science has been hosting technical seminars since 2018.
- The 2nd technical seminar July 22, 2020: online
- Scientific Exploration of Lake Biwa -About water and living things- From improving water quality to new challenges
- Kazuhide Hayakawa, Director of General Analysis Division, Lake Biwa Environmental Research Center
- Scientific Exploration of Lake Biwa -About water and living things- From improving water quality to new challenges
Outline of this lecture
Lake Biwa is located in Shiga Prefecture and is the largest lake in Japan in terms of area and water storage capacity. It is famous, but surprisingly little is known about substances contained and its environment.
Do you know that Lake Biwa is a designated lake under the Lake Law, a first-class river under the River Law, a Ramsar Convention registered wetland, and the 13th oldest ancient lake in the world?
In this seminar, I will introduce the diverse properties of Lake Biwa from a scientific perspective.
- The 1st technical seminar December 21, 2018
- Water splitting and CO2 fixation reactions using semiconductor photocatalysts as the core
- Kazuhiko Maeda, associate professor, Tokyo Institute of Technology
